TEACHING Philosophy
My goal as an educator is to help instill a joy for music and to guide students in developing the necessary skills and knowledge to confidently interpret and perform piano music. I believe effective teaching is grounded in careful assessment of student needs, patience, and setting realistic goals. I aim to reflect these values in my work and remain committed to ongoing professional growth.
Regardless of whether or not a student intends on becoming a professional musician, it is my hope that they will enjoy playing music and that the skills obtained from learning an instrument will carry over into other aspects of their lives. Playing music requires us to be creative and use our imaginations. It teaches us to listen, to communicate clearly, to problem solve, and to set goals and follow through on achieving those goals. All of this together brings us a sense of fulfillment and helps to build confidence.
