Bio

Brittany Florenz is a pianist, piano instructor, and photographer based in New York City. Her work is driven by a passion for creativity and teaching, and she enjoys weaving her diverse skills and interests into everything she does.

As a pianist, Ms. Florenz has performed solo and chamber repertoire in the U.S. and abroad. With over thirteen years of experience teaching students of all ages and levels, she manages her own private piano studio and is currently on the piano faculty of The Nightingale-Bamford School as part of its private lesson program. She is a co-founder of the Intermezzo Musicianship Festival — a music theory and history intensive — where she taught music theory and history classes and collaborated with her colleagues to develop the Festival’s curriculum and materials. Her teaching career has also included roles as an adjunct piano instructor at NYU and as a piano teacher at many community music schools across New York City. Additionally, she is on the Board of the Piano Teachers Congress of New York as a co-chair of the 20th/21st Century Piano Festival and member of several of its committees.

As a photographer, her portraits have appeared in music magazines, books, CD covers, and promotional materials. She has also had the honor of working with organizations like the Rhode Island College Dance Company, Interlochen Center for the Arts, and New York University (NYU), photographing performances and special events.

Ms. Florenz holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she received the CIM Presidential Merit Award and studied with Emanuela Friscioni, and a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from NYU, where she received the Steinhardt Music Talent Scholarship and studied with Eteri Andjaparidze.

Beyond piano teaching and photography, she has also worked in arts administration, managing classical music events and competitions. Her interest in languages and linguistics led her to complete a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from the NYU School of Professional Studies and to obtain the Certificato di Conoscenza della Lingua Italiana (CELI 4, Livello C1) - Certificate of Proficiency in the Italian Language (Level C1). She has taught ESL classes in both one-on-one and group settings, in person and online, to students from all over the world.

Whether she is at the piano, teaching, or behind a camera, Ms. Florenz is committed to fostering creativity and connection in all areas of her life.
